Although the fragility of such a piece suggests temporary or ritual use, its precise function remains unclear. They may simply have been made as offerings. Clay Professor of Scientific Archaeology Department of Human Evolutionary Biology Harvard University) took a feather sample of feather panel (PC.B.522) to date it with C14 method. She is dating most of the panels from the same cache available in several US museums as a part of her research project.
