Dutch Baroque painter
(ca. 1610–ca. 1630)
Johannes Bosschaert was born approximately in 1610 in Middelburg, The Netherlands. He was the prodigy son of the famous flower painter Ambrosius Bosschaert the Elder, who died in 1621. Johannes became a member of the Guild in Dordrecht and probably died young. His earliest work is from 1623, when he was about 13 years old, and his latest dated work is from 1629. Little is known about Johannes. The few paintings known to be by him suggest that he specialized in flower- and fruit-pieces.
