Bernhard Strigel, Swabian portraitist and altarpiece painter, was a pupil of his sculptor father Ivo Strigel. Strigel worked in Ulm, Augsburg and Nürnberg and was a portraitist of the Emperor Maximilian I (1459-1519) from 1507. Strigel is also known as Bernardinus auf der Ruckseite des Cuspianbildes and Bernhardinus auf dem Wolfhar.
